The theme for this year, “A Rose by any other name…..” , suggests that the Devi (Divine Mother) is present in each of us. On Saturday, the dancers show how each of us comprehends Devi in our own unique way. Feb. 14th is Valentine’s day, a perfect day to celebrate Devi, the personification of Love. As we flow into Sunday, Feb 15, the verse “Asato Ma Sath Gamaya…” serves as an inspiration. The evening will bring out the play/ display of Prakriti. When players lose their sense of play and awareness, they move towards the center and find peace.
This year, the Digital Art Gallery curated by Dr. Smita Garg will be screened both days. It includes works of both Bay Area and outside visual artists (paint and other media), related to the theme. Interestingly, the picture in the flier is a visual artwork – a painting on glass by Pameena Galler.
We also have Dance Theater and Sound Healing as special additions to our evening of Classical Indian Dances. We are happy to include a piece written by our local composer, Dr. Radhakrishnan
