October 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Hi Urban Sanctuary Friends,
In times like these, and as we grow older, we are faced with the challenge of adapting to tremendous amounts of loss. How do we digest all this emotionally and spiritually? We often remind each other to “take care of yourself”, but how do we do that?
Last week, in my interview with Janet Childs of the Center for Living with Dying, we were reminded that it can be difficult to carry grief alone. Janet described us as often putting grief in a backpack and carrying it around for a long time. She invited us to bring it out into a brave space where it can be shared with others. The Scriptures are full of passages expressing shared laments.
These next two Sundays we will create kind, safe space to allow our losses to be shared. Often something happens in the sharing of loss. There is an acceptance of the reality of it and a sense of not being so alone. See what’s going on below, so you can “take care of yourself”!
This Sunday we will continue to look to Philippians for rich spiritual resources for finding surprising inner resources of contentment, joy, peace – all while living in times of confinement, suffering and anxiety. Good music, time to pray and listen to the Spirit together.
